Viewpoints
This exhibition presents three-dimensional photographs: when the prints are viewed through the red-blue ‘spectacles’, the photos give the impression of solidity; with the third dimension of depth appearing in addition to the two dimensions of height and width. All of the photos are connected to World War I and each of them was created from a stereograph. This special type of photograph is in fact made up of two, slightly different pictures of the same object taken from two different angles corresponding to the positions of a pair of human eyes. When viewed with a device called stereoscope, the two photographs merge into one ‘solid’ picture in the viewer’s mind.
